Next we went to Heidelberg. This old city is famous for its castle & bridge.

On the picture is a glimpse of the Heidelberg Castle, built in the middle of 13th century. This castle was seriously damaged in 1693, now it has been repaired. it combines Gothic(哥特式的), baroque(巴洛克式的) & renaissance(文艺复兴式的) style of architecture.

From another perspective we can see this castle more clear, this old building is the symbol of Heidelberg. Down the hill is the city.

Heidelberg is also famous for its university - Heidelberg University, which is very good at advanced technologies. we saw many college students of it in the city.

On the right is the Heidelberg Bridge. Along with the castle, this bridge was very common to be found on many post cards:) we got to there later.

Inside the Heidelberg Castle, scars left by wars(this castle was also 'hurt' during WWII) r everywhere. Not only this castle, many other historic site in Germany did not 'survive' during WWII. In the end of WWII, Germany was bombed by alliance force brutally.

We entered the city. Along the river i noticed this tour boat and my eyes were captured by its design.

This pictures shows one of the most ordinary corner of the city. Actually i feel Heidelberg more like a town than a city. These houses don't belong to any 'millionaires', they belong to normal civilians. what's more, most of those houses have a history of over 100 years, and they were handed down from those house keeper's ancestors. like that, they were used generations by generations. U can feel what is tradition.

The narrow roads also reminds me of Florence, they were obviously built before automobiles come out.

Taken at the closest distance of Heidelberg Bridge. Not like the Heidelberg Castle, this bridge was COMPLETELY destroyed in WWII, now what we see here is the one rebuilt according to the original one.

we had our lunch in a Chinese restaurant, interestingly, the manager of that restaurant is a Malay(马来西亚), we chatted for a while after lunch. he complained to me that he think Heidelberg was too boring. i said, "why? this town is so beautiful". he answered, "that's because u r new here, i have been living in this town for years, this place is beautiful, but it's lack of excitement. it's hard to find any change. Bored feeling is inevitable when there is no change". "sounds reasonable" - thats only what i can say he he we also asked him about Malaysia, he didn't say much but he said Malaysia is a weak country(which implies he doesn't like it). he also claim that he had been to China once, "there r too many ppl in ur country, it's really hard for ppl like me to adapt". i could understand that completely then, after experiencing so much in Europe, i realized how severe the population situation is in our country. this problem have already put too many obstacles in Chinese growing up(中国的崛起 ).
