The Servants of the Betrayer™ expansion is going to be huge. So big, in fact, that we’re going to have to run expanded preview coverage of the new Traitor heroes™ in early March just to get through everything before the Sneak Preview.



To help facilitate this, we’re going to start releasing a number of the standard supporting articles early. We’ll begin by providing you with some advance information about the new Loot™ cards in Servants of the Betrayer™.



As many of you saw in our digital product survey, we released the first image of the Servants of the Betrayer™ booster box.

One new product feature that immediately jumps out is the “Bonus Loot™” symbol on the side of the box. So, what does this mean?



Servants of the Betrayer™ won’t have the standard common rarity MMO Loot™ item. Instead, it will be the first expansion to feature a super-common MMO Loot™ item. In March of the Legion™, we made all the Loot™ items easier to collect, and we’re taking it a step further with the super-common Loot™ item in this set.   



How super-common is “super-common”? Let’s just say that every Servants of the Betrayer™ booster box is likely to have an MMO Loot™ card. Actually, that’s a half truth. Servants of the Betrayer™ booster boxes will likely come with two MMO Loot™ cards! Now that’s a bonus!



So, what is this amazing new MMO Loot™ card? Quite simply, it is the best thing ever. However, as you’ll see in a moment, I’m personally biased.



The new super-common Loot™ item for Servants of the Betrayer™ is . . .

Yeah, baby! Nine years of designing TCGs, and it’s finally payday! Papa’s got a brand new bag!



The real thanks goes out to the super-cool people at Blizzard who made this geek’s dreams come true. By my calculations, some time in late March of 2012 will be the last weekend I’ll have to drive up to wash their cars.



Oh—you want to know why this is cool for you.  Awkward . . .



Actually, the name of this item is the least cool part about it. In the MMO, when you redeem this item from Landro Longshot™ in Booty Bay™, he’ll provide you with a stack of consumable biscuits. If you feed your cosmetic pet a biscuit, the pet will grow in size. Its final size will scale depending on the model of the pet, but a general reference is to the size of an average animal hunter pet. So imagine something like this:

Since this Loot™ item will be so easy to obtain, we’ve made some additional improvements. Unlike with previous Loot™ items, the non-Loot™ version of this card will appear as uncommon in the card pool. Like all other Loot™ items, it will replace the hero slot in booster packs.



Another benefit of this super-common is the ability for us multi-character players to give all of our children goodies to play with. I have five 70s, and I’m working on my sixth. Whenever I received a code item in the past, I had to suffer through the internal turmoil of picking which child I loved the best. Now, not so much.



Oh yeah, and if that wasn’t enough, Hunter and Warlock players (and maybe others *smirk*) in the TCG are going to be able to make these huge monster Pets that can eat people’s faces off.



Wow. That’s a lot of article action for just one item. Check back tomorrow when I reveal the uncommon and rare Loot™ items for Servants of the Betrayer™. Trust me, it’s going to be one wild ride.

Welcome back. I left off yesterday by showcasing the greatest MMO Loot™ item that the game has ever known (or will ever know, for that matter)—Papa Hummel’s Old-Fashioned Pet Biscuit. I’m guessing, however, that the rest of you might be curious as to what the other two Servants of the Betrayer™ Loot™ items are going to be.



Though the weather outside is frightful . . .

The uncommon Loot™ item for Servants of the Betrayer™ is a Personalized Weather-Making Machine. An in-inventory clickable item, the weather-maker will generate a personalized weather graphic that appears over the user’s head.



The weather-maker will generate a number of different weather graphics, from sunbeams to thunderstorms. Wherever you go in Azeroth, the weather will be yours to command.



Now, if you only had a fishing chair, Mr. Pinchy wouldn’t stand a chance.



Ground control to Major Tom . . .

Yes, the rare Loot™ item in Servants of the Betrayer™ is a rocket flying mount—the X-51 Nether-Rocket, to be precise. Yes, the rocket mount in the MMO will look just like the above card art image. No, I’m not pulling your leg.



Landro Longshot’s™ influence goes far beyond the shores of Booty Bay™. One of his more elaborate wagers was with a number of goblin engineers from Area 52. Landro wanted to gamble for the town’s central X-52 Nether-Rocket, but he couldn’t get the engineers to go for it. Instead, they were willing to put up the X-51 one-man rocket prototype. Ultimately, the engineers discovered what so many in the past have come to realize: Landro rarely loses a bet.



You, however, have the chance to beat Landro at his own game and get an X-51 Nether-Rocket flying mount of your very own.



The Nether-Rocket flying mount functions like standard flying mounts in the MMO. Like the Spectral Tiger, when you redeem the rocket code, you’ll have the ability to buy the rocket flying mount from Landro. You can buy the standard (60%) speed increase version or the epic (280%) speed increase version. Also like the tiger, your character will first need the appropriate riding skill before it can use the mount. You can choose to buy the standard version first and then return to Landro with the same code to buy the epic version.



That’s all I have for now. Until Servants of the Betrayer™ releases, I’ll be busy saving my pennies. My personal goal is to obtain as many Papa Hummel’s code cards as I can get my hands on. Official Web previews for Servants begins in early March. In the meantime, you spoiler hunters should keep your eyes open for a Sneak Preview magazine ad that will be released in February. It will showcase the next Servants of the Betrayer™ card spoiler. I’ll let you guess what form it will take.
