There are several ways to have a good beginning. First, we should begin with a good plan. Planning well is essential for us before we start to do anything. Second, we should avoid haste. 10. Good Manners

Knowledge and diploma do have some connections, but we cannot judge a person only by his diploma.

We are puzzled when we are facing so many different attitudes. We often feel lost as to whose advice to follow. On the one hand, we are afraid that someday we will catch a disease of this kind or that kind. On the other hand, we are worried that without a cigarette, how can we start talks with others, especially with strangers? It is hard to say whose idea is absolutely right.
17. The Advantages and Disadvantages of Internet

With the development of computers, the Internet has become widely used. On the one hand, the Internet shows us a closer and wider world than ever before. In my opinion, Internet plays a very important role in our modern life. There is no doubt that Internet has contributed and will contribute greatly to our life. When we use it, we must be cautious of its bad effects upon us
18. Television

However, television can also be harmful. In order to increase the number of audience, quite a few programs are full of violence and sex. Such unhealthy programs may have subconscious influence on young people.

However, the reform may also bring some disadvantages. For instance, it is a great challenge for our country to devote more money to provide the necessary facilities. Some universities and colleges may not have the capacity to handle so many students. They may be short of classrooms, dormitories, dinning halls and even teachers. In addition, how to cope with the new pattern of this kind of education is another difficult problem.
From my point of view, I believe the advantages of the reform are very obvious. It can benefit not only the individuals but also the society. The whole qualifications of the Chinese people will be improved as a result of the popularity of higher education.
20. Private Cars

With the increase in the general standard of living, some ordinary Chinese families can afford a car. More and more people are buying private cars today. There are even more who are wishing to buy one some day. Private cars have become a symbol of status and success.
There are many advantages of owning a private car. It is convenient to drive your own car whenever you want and wherever you want to go. You needn’t check out the bus or train schedules. Moreover, it is safe and comfortable to drive a car at night than to walk in a dark street to catch a bus to go home.
On the other hand, there are some disadvantages. First, it is very expensive to own a car. It is expensive to buy a car, to maintain it and the price of fuel is also increasing fast. Second, it is difficult to find a place to park a car since there are not many parking lots . Finally, private cars may cause worry and stress. There might be more chances of some traffic accidents or of the car being stolen.
21. Is Money All-Powerful?

Many people consider money as the most important thing in life. They think that the majority of the material things in our daily life can buy with money. But money cannot buy everything. For example, we cannot buy time and life with money. No matter what we do, or how much we are willing to pay, we cannot make the day last longer than 24 hours and make the dead alive. A person may be very rich in terms of money, but he may have nothing in spirit. Money is not everything.
Money, moreover, is the source of some evils. Some people are too greedy for money to break the law and commit all kinds of crimes. Therefore, it may bring them tragedies. Since money can never buy everything we desire, it is not all-powerful.
22. Advertising

Advertisements exist widely in our daily life. No matter where and when we can see them in newspapers, magazines, on TV and radio, and even on the streets and buildings. We have to believe the fact that where there is a person there is an advertisement. Advertisements have almost become a part of our life. Nowadays we can hardly imagine what would happen if there were no advertisements.
Advertisements do have some effects on us. Advertisements are very useful to customers. They may inform the customers of the latest information about a new product, and what is on sale, how much it costs, and where to buy. However, some advertisements may mislead customers by using part of the truth to suggest something false.
We should have a right attitude towards advertisements. First, we should weigh the truth of an advertisement. Then we ought to ask ourselves “What do we really need to buy? ”. If we can do these, advertisements will add more colors in our life.
23. Environmental Pollution

  Our living conditions are getting worse and worse because of the pollution of our environment. Waste water running out of the factories has polluted the sources of waters, such as rivers and seas. Waste gases coming from factories and cars have polluted the air. Both polluted water and air are harmful to our health and do great damage to our surroundings.
It is very necessary to take measures to protect our environment. Much considerations and serious researches should be done to ensure some measures be found in the near future. All human beings share the Earth and its resources. If we don’t take any actions to slow down the environmental pollution, we may hardly survive in the world some day.
Some measures have been adopted to prevent our living environment from getting worse. Waste water should be purified before it is allowed to flow into rivers. Waste gases from factories should be checked and cars should be equipped with special devices to reduce auto emissions.
24.Studying Abroad

  Many young people now try to seek further study in a foreign country. There are several reasons for their choice. First, they think studying abroad may enable them to catch up with the advanced pace of scientific and technological progress, where both the first-class instructors and facilities are available. Second, studying abroad will give them the chance to come in contact with different cultures, which will certainly enrich their experiences. At last, it is an opportunity for them to master a foreign language.
But there are also some reasons against studying abroad. The high cost of learning is a heavy burden on the students’ family and the students themselves. Moreover, it is still doubtful whether the level of instruction in the foreign countries is above that in one’s home country. Furthermore, it is difficult to get used to the new circumstances. They would have a hard time in dealing with loneliness, homesickness, and different climate and food.
As far as I am concerned, I prefer to study in a foreign country, though I might suffer a lot of hardships. The advantages of studying abroad outweigh the disadvantages. If given a chance, I would go abroad to seek my further study. I am confident to face any challenge.
25. Diligence Is the Key to Success

Diligence is an important factor to one’s success. As the proverb says, “Rome was not built in a day”, knowledge cannot be acquired in a short time. Since knowledge is accumulated little by little, it is advisable for young people to study diligently. We all know “No pains, no gains”. Without hardworking, there is no success.
Laziness is most harmful. It makes us useless because if we do not study and work hard we shall not be able to earn a living in the society. It doesn’t matter if you are not very clever. Diligence can make up for the lack of intelligence. But if you are very lazy, you are hopeless. We cannot imagine a lazy man can make any success.
However, some people believe in luck. They think it is one’s luck that determined one’s success. They believe those who have achieved great success only because of good luck. They just wait for such a chance. In fact, there is no royal road to success. Diligence is the key to success.
26. Part-time Jobs

However, tourism can also have some side effects. Many people complain about the bad service and inadequate facilities. With the coming of a large number of tourists, the price of commodities will rise up. On the whole, I believe tourism has more good effects than bad effects.
28. The Effect of Tourism

In China, most people take a positive attitude towards one-child family. They think that family with one child is better than those with more children. But there are also some negative views about the one-child family. Some people say that it may result in some social problems in the future. For instance, the parents may feel lonely if their child gets married. Furthermore, parents tend to spoil their only child.
Compared with the different views, we can see quite clearly that the one-child family has much more advantages. I think one-child family benefits people as well as the country. It will contribute greatly to the economic development of our country.
29.Water

Water is the base of life. It is an undeniable fact that there is no life if there is no water. People have to use water to satisfy their thirst, to maintain personal and their belonging’s cleanness, to wash the food they eat, to irrigate the crops they plant, and to build the house they need. Animals and plants also need water in the similar way as men do.
The world’s water supply is fixed and limited. It is a well known fact that water is in short supply in many parts of the world. On the one hand, the great demand for water in every aspects of modern life is growing very fast. People and society need more water to meet their demands. On the other hand, serious pollution limits our supply of usable water. It not only makes some water dangerous to drink, but also unhealthy to irrigate our crops.
Therefore, it is very necessary for us to realize that we should value each drop of water. It is our duty to take care of water and make an effort in saving water. If we do not take any actions to save water right now, it may be run out some day.
30. Happiness

What is happiness? Different people may have different answers. To someone, having money, prestige and high social position means happiness; while someone else may think that being respected brings the greatest happiness. And others may feel happy when they work well and live comfortably.
I have been thinking over the question since my childhood. As a boy, I thought that living with my parents was my happiness. When I was at middle school, getting good marks in the exams was my happiness. But now I think I will try my best to serve the society with what I have learned. By doing so, I will bring happiness to others and to myself as well.
There are various ways to become happy. In my opinion, happiness is obtained through our own efforts——working hard in the interest of the whole society. Only in this way can we really get happiness of our own.
