5come5帮你背单词 [ project /prə'd3əekt, 'prod3əekt/ n. 方案,计划,工程,项目;vt. 投掷,发射,放映,设计,规划,突出,使凸出 ]

He could have had a snap election back in this summer he could have won, but he didn't. And now as polls show his honeymoon well and truly over. And the economic outlook looks progressively less rosy, credit squeeze, house prices, Northern Rock. People are queuing up to say I told you so.

Labor now is being judged on its record and again, that's the minus point for Gordon Brown. He's achieved his ambition of being Prime Minister and leading the country, but he's come in at a time when labor is being judged on ten years in power.

I think the problem that Gordon Brown has got is that Dull and Boring was a very good selling point in the early stages. The longer this goes on, the general public will see Dull and Boring as dull and boring.
Sadly today's YouGov poll for the Sunday Times is bad news for Mr. Brown with his personal rating tumbling 40 points in a month to 58 points below what it was at his peak. At the same time, the Tory’s overall poll lead has now risen because labor's fallen back to 6 points. All this comes as speculation rumbles on about raft between the Prime Minister and his Foreign Secretary over / European policy. And one admittedly unnamed senior civil servant/ quoted in the Mail on Sunday is complaining of constipation in government with a great deal more good ideas going into Downing Street than coming out of it. You would wonder perhaps that David Cameron's Conservatives are on a row? Now preparing to unveil controversial but highly ambitious plans, to try and raise standards in primary schools, with the aim of ensuring that all children will be able to read by the age of six.

For his part, Gordon Brown is seeking the political high ground with tough talk on the environment. But persuading the rest of the world to take notice is another matter. On this and all fronts, it's all about delivery and that is his fast discovering is the tricky bit.

Peter Spence, Sky news, Westminster.
