What do you do with all those summer tomatoes. Well in one Spanish town, you have a very messy party. Around 40,000 people gather for the annual Tomatina Festival. The revelers take to the streets to pelt each other with tons of ripe tomatoes. It all started when 6 trucks unloaded their cargo for the crowd.

Town folklore traces the festival back to the 1940s, when some kids in towns started throwing their lunches at each other. It grew each year into a now legendary food fight. But there are rules - the tomatoes have to be squeezed a little to make them squashier. After it's all done, it's clear-up time. And not just for the participants.
