1.Iraqi authorities have gradually relaxing a round-the-clock curfew in Baghdad and posed to prevent a sectarian baglash after the former president Saddam Hussein was sentenced to death. The Iraqi government says it has lifted a ban on protesting traffic and plans to lift the ban on vehicle traffic in Baghdad and two neighbouring provinces Tuesday morning. Iraq's High Tribunal convicted Saddam of crimes aganist humanity on Sunday. Meanwhile in London today British Prime Minister Tony Blair said his government opposes the death penalty for Saddam and anybody else, but the trial was a reminder of the brutality of Saddam Hussein. President Bush meanwhile praised the trial as a milestone for democracy and the rule of law in Iraq. VOA reports from the White House. The President says the guilty verdict shows the Iraqi people are replacing the rule of a tyrant with the rule of law.
It's a major achievement for a? democracy and its constitutional government.
In a brief statement to reporters, Mr.Bush says Saddam Hussein's victims have received a measure of justice which many thoughts would never come. Saddam was sentenced to hang. He has 30 days to appeal. Mr.Bush emphasized the completion of the first of Saddam's 2 war crime trials shows progress is being made.

2. ?'s president ? has fired the interior minister and response to opposition pressure and a debate on constitutional reform has been postponed. ? ,as the new interior minister, immediately fired the police ?,another opposition demand. Mr.? maybe consession package of reforms aimed at reducing presidential powers at the parliament, however did not show up for debate on them. The discussion has now been postponed.

3. Palestinian official say President ? Party in the ruling militant group Hamas are close to an agreement of forming a new coalition government. The officials are meeting in Gaza today to negociate details of the new unity government. VOA's ? has more details.

Palestinian political leaders are gathered in the Gaza Strip where last minute negotiations aimed at creating a unity government are underway. Effort to create a unity government between the Hamas and Fatul political factions have been ongoing for months. Until now the efforts have gone nowhere because Palestinian President ? who has the Fatul affection has insisted that any new government except commitments made by previous Palestinian government, such as recognizing Israel, renouncing violence and accepting ? agreement signed by Israel and the Palestinians. These issues are that Hamas has refused to accept. Hamas has controlled the Palestinian government since wining legislated of election in January. ?, and independent member of the Palestinian legislator who has been broke in talks between Hamas and Fatul says the new government will include wide cross section Palestinian political leaders. ? will be replaced as Prime Minister. Hamas leaders say they have agreed to a new Prime Minister and will submit their choice to President ? soon. Jim ?, VOA news, ?.

4. With one day left before US mid-term elections polls indicate opposition Democrats continued to have an edge with voters nationwide with Republicans gaining ground. As both parties continue to battle for votes, polls released Sunday indicate that although Democrats may have enough support to take control of the 435 member house of representatives, control of the 100 member Senates is uncertain. The polls showed that many voters say the war in Iraq remains their top issue.
