Police say a man who opened fire at Virginia Tech appeared to have acted alone. In what's becoming the deadliest shooting rampage in US history. The Associated Press is reporting that government officials say at least 30 people and the gunman are now dead. It's unclear now whether or not he was killed by police or whether he took his own life. Police say some of the victims were students. And police got the first report of the shooting inside a dorm building at about 7:15 in the morning local time. They say about 2 hours later , more shootings were reported inside an engineering building. Virginia Tech's president says authorities are trying to identify the victims.

And a massive storm is boundarying the East Coast and the Carolinas all the way to New England. The * governor of New Jersey is now telling the state citizens not to leave their houses. The governor of Connecticut is doing the same and both the states have declared state of emergency. England from the coast, the storm has buried northeastern states in snow actually up to 17 inches fell in Vermont alone. And the snow is still falling in upstate New York, Pennsylvania and Maine.

President Bush is urging democratic leaders in congress to pass an emergency roll spending bill without any strings attached and without any further delay. He says the measure congress is now preparing to send him would undercut US troops because it includes a withdrawal deadline. He also says he doesn't want unrelenting spending attach to this bill. The president is meeting with leader from both parties on Wednesday to talk about the differences.

And jury's election is now underway for an American terrorism suspect once described as the "dirty bomber". Jose Padilla and 2 co-defendants are accused of being part of Al Qaeda terror sale. They allegedly funneled fighters, money and supplies to extremists all around the world. All 3 men have pleaded not guilty. But is their convicted they could get life in prison. Padilla has been held since May of 2002. He was the cleric and * three and half years ago.
