The European Commission says talks on sharing airline passenger data with the United States have broken down, and airlines which provides such information to the US authorities after midnight Brussels Time could face legal action. Since 2003 the US has demanded that airlines transmit passengers personal data to American security officials for all US-bound flights including credit card information and telephone numbers. The Highest European Court ruled that the previous agreement was illegal and had set today as a deadline for a new deal. JT, the EU Commission spokesperson in Brussels explained what the implications were.

Obviously we will be on hoping to come up with a new approach to reach an agreement as soon as possible, unfortunately it’s very disappointing, it was not possible to reach an agreement before midnight tonight.
Police in India say their investigation into the train bombings in Bombay in July this year has found evidence that they were organized by Pakistan’s Intelligence Agency, the ISI. Responding to the allegations a Pakistani information minister said India had provided no evidence of his country’s involvement. Here is our correspondent in India JS.
The allegation that militant group based in Pakistan may have been involved in the attack isn’t new but for the Indian police the point of the finger of blame at an agency of the Pakistani state is an extraordinary allegation. At today’s news conference police commissioner A N Roy said their investigation had an earth evidence that the bombings had been planned by the Pakistani intelligence agency, the ISI. The allegation is based according to Mr. Roy on interviews carried out with 15 people arrested so far, mostly Indian nationals.
The Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Luda da Silva has declared 3 days of mourning for the passengers of the plane that crashed into the Amazon jungle. A spokesman for the president said all of the passengers and crew had died. An investigation into the cause of the crashes is now underway. From Sao Paulo TH reports.
The brand new Boeing-737 aircraft carrying 149 passengers and 6 crew was lost from radio contact just over an hour into its flight from the city of Manaus in the heart of the Amazon to the capital Brasilia. Search crews and helicopters have now located wreckage from the jet in the southern part of the rainforest near Indian settlements in the state of Mato Grosso. While officials have been cautious about the causes of the disaster, a small executive jet is known to have made a false landing on an airfield close to the crash site with a badly damaged wing, the pilot and 5 passengers of that plane survived and are being questioned by investigators.
The presidents of Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania have called for a diplomatic solution to the escalating dispute between Russia and Georgia. The President Victor Yushchenko of Ukraine, Lech Kaczynski of Poland and Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania discussed the crisis at a meeting in the Ukrainian City of Lviv. Relations between Russia and Georgia took a turn for the worst this week when Georgia arrested and charged 4 Russian intelligence officers with spying.

Almost 200,000 people have been evacuated from central Vietnam ahead of the imminent arrival of typhoon Xangsane. The storm which killed 61 people in the Philippine is due to hit the country early on Sunday. Several defense authorities say 9 provinces are on a state of alert. BH reports from Hanoi.
600 miles of coastline went on an alert, 200,000 people have been moved to safe areas and fishing boats ordered back to port but many boats have yet made at home and planes are being laid for search and rescue missions. Most of the central Vietnam’s habitants are poor farmers, many of whose houses may not withstand the current wind, rain and flooding.
