The United States has said to intend to submit resolution on Burma to the United Nations Security Council in the very near future. The Ameircan statement came after the Security Council discussed Burma officially for the first time. C M reports from the UN headquarters in New York.

At the beginning of this month, the United States made a formal request that the situation in Burma be placed on the agenda of the Security Council. It argued that Burma has become a threat to international peace and security.But of the destabilizing effective over human rights violations and flow of refugees and drugs to the rest of the region. Other countries on the Security Council disagree. China, in particular, and the American effort to push through a resolution could lead to bitter debate. The US is unlikely to act further until the UN 's Undersecretary General Ibraham B travels to Burma again, possibly in November. But the Americans want to put the Security Council on notice that this isn't issue which they will continue to press.

Amid strong objections from Mexico the United States Congress is moving towards giving final approval to the construction of a new border fense. The double fense which is said for a final vote in the next 24 hours would run along about third of the southern border. The Mexican President Vicente Fox has compared it to the Berlin Wall. Ruben.G on the center for recently arrived illegal immigrants in American border town of O . He says many Mexicans feel insulted by the US plan.

In a video published on the Internet, Al-Zawahri said Al Qaeda was stronger than before and his members were committed to martyred operations, the term used by Ismalists to describe suicide attacks.

The French politician Segolene Royal has officially entered the race to become France's next president by declaring her candidacy for the Socialist Party nomination. Segolene Royal has promised to bring real change to France and has strong lead in the opinion polls over her more established Socialist Party rivals. Party / will select a candidate in November. The latest opinion polls suggests that Segolene Royal is at least 30% ahead of any of her potential rivals to gain her party's nomination for the presidency. Since entering the political arena, she's risen on a way of a grass-root support being described as breath of a fresh air in French politics. Her position seems to be strengthened by the decision of the failed candidate last time ranked L.J not to stand again. The other potential candidates, all men, come no and near her in popular support.

Russia has been evacuating some of its embassy staff and military personnel from Georgia after four Russian intelligence officers were charged with spying by Georgia. The four men have been remanded in custody. Russia says the accusations of the spying all false and is demanding their release. R.C reports from the Georgian capital Tbilisi.

While the Russian officers were in court, two planes left from Moscow carrying Russian diplomatic staff and their families, the beginning of a wider evacuation. Russia says Georgia is now simply too dangerous for them. Also on board was the Russian Ambassador, he's been withdrawn in protests at the arrest of the officers. But Georgia shows no sign of backing down. President M.S said the judicial process will be followed through until the end. NATO has called on both countries to calm the situation. A Georgia ally the United States.

The main Industrial Trade Union representing workers at the German carmaker Volkswagen has provisionly agreed to increase in working hours from 29 to 33 hours a week without any increase in pay. The company wants to cut costs for the production of its vehicles such as Volkswagen Golf, which were selling strongly but bringing in little profit.
