These superb machines are match for almost anything the Germans had, led the Russian advance from Kursk to Berlin.

When the United States mobilized for war, Chrysler built a giant tank arsenal in Detroit. Soon tens of thousands of M4 Sherman tanks began pouring off the production line. The Sherman became the universal Allied tank of the war. Leading the breakout from Normandy and the final onslaught against Nazi Germany.

The first sight of a Sherman, there it was. A huge tank, they are the Rolls Royce compared with what we’ve been used.

We knew we had the arsenal of democracy. The pride was that Americans could do it. we could …??? tanks. And we were told they were good tanks and they would help us win the war.

In late 1944, the German High Command concentrated their war industry on the development of superior weapons. In an intensive effort to defeat the Allied forces, they produced heavier and heavier tanks, like the Tiger and the King Tiger.
