Anorexia is no longer just about girls, starving themselves to look thinner. But now at least one million men or young men are battling that eating disorder, and for many it starts as a simply attempt to get fit and it can quickly turn into a dangerous struggle for the perfect body.

It was in high school that C L first started obsessing about his weight, after years being called fat kid, he decided to take control, and starting shedding the pounds. You get in the high school, not only wanna be the better athlete, but, you wanna get attention from girls, everybody else is in shape, and I always, you know, how do you with grass.

C L started exercising more and eating less going from 210 pounds to as low as 113 in less than a year. By the time the baseball try our scheme, I had got it so low that I eventually was cut from the baseball team because just, I didn’t have the energy to keep up.

Well, eating disorder are most often associated with women, experts estimate that 1,000,000 men in this country suffer from anorexia. Dr. A Anderson is director of the eating disorder unit at the University of Iowa College of Medicine.

We’ve certainly seen more eating disorder in men, someone wanna be wiry thin and someone wanna be lean muscular, that like James Bond. Someone be big and chiseled, like Arnold, the governor.

And pop culture has flooded in young women for years with glamour and images suggesting thin is in. now it is harder than never for boys or young men to escape to the quest for the perfect body.

You have these magazine where, that they are telling you, you know, this is in-thing, this is the in-thing to ware, this is the way to look, this is the way you hair, this is the way you six packed ebbs, this is the way you get girls’ attention. This is the way be hunky and sexier. And dadadadada……but what cost?

Even some males celebrities have spoken out about battling anorexia. Actor Denis Kuid who went from 180 pounds to 138 told Best Life Magazine in March, that for many years I was obsessed about what I was eating and how many calories we had have and how much exercise we have to do.

Denis Quaid * they are in an industry that obviously places a huge premium on image and I think that's where you start to see problems poping up, first people taking shortcuts.

The good news when caught early the dicease can be treated with the right medical care that was the case for Craig Laue who after getting the proper mental therapy, gained back much of the weight, now at 13years old, he is well-known disc jochey.

And new arrival from Disturbs, they are our next. And healthy 170 pounds. I think some guys ego, maybe, much or less, of this not admit that they have this kind of problem. It took me a long time, finally, be able to talk about it.
