Christopher Columber was born in Janurary Italy in 1451,a time when educated Europeans knew the earth was round not flat at some previously thought.As he studied geography and went to sea then he set out to solve the major problem.

Europeans won its spices from India and China.But it was costly to import them overland or sail them all the way around the Africa.Columbus decided to find a new searound from Europe to Asia.He reasoned since the world is round,he could eventually reach the east by sailing west.

In 1492,Columbus persuaded King * and Queen Elizeberab Spain to finance his experiment.They provided three small ships,the Nina,the Pinta and the St.Maria.The expedition sailed to the unknown.

By 9th,October after a month at sea,the exhausted sailors were ready to rebel.Columbus agreed to look for land for three more days and turn back.Then on 12th,October,1492,an sailor aboard the Penta cried out,he had spotted a land.It was an small island in the Bahamas,probably the one commonly known as Warren Island now officially called St.Saudor.Columbus and his sailor boarded in a small boat,arrived on shore and stepped on the land that would one day be called the Americas.

But Columbus believed he was near the coast of Asia,and the island of East Indis,he called the people greeted him,Indians,a name that stuck causing a case of mistaken identity to last for centuries.

Columbus returned to Spain,taking some gold,parots and some native Americans to show the King and Queen. It was the high point of his career.The great navigator made three more trips to the new world.He believed he'd sailed to Asia.Felt like a failure because he had found the new ship ground for spices ever searching for.Columbus died as a disappointed man at 20th,May,1506.

The question of what Columbus has accomplished didn't end with his death.For hundreds of years,people believe he was the first European to find America.Today we know that the Liking reached the North America five centuries earlier.While Columbus' voyage opened up a whole world for European to explore,it ultimately spelt disaster for the native Americans.
