An Israeli air strike on a car in Gaza has killed a senior Palestinian militant and 3 members of a Palestinian family. The attack comes hours after the head of the Palestinian intelligence service General Talig Arborajab was seriously injured in an explosion at the headquarters of the organization in Gaza city. Intelligence staffs say he was the victim of an assassination attempt. Allan jonshton reports from Gaza.
The Israeli struck in the middle of Gaza city. A missile was apparently fired from an unmanned plane. It tore apart a car being driven by a man named Mohammad Dadoor. The Islamic Jihad Organization described him as one of its senior engineers. He had been involved in helping to produce some lorrantry could make rockets. And this kind of activity made him a target for the Israelis. The blast from the attack on Mr. Dadoor's vehicle caught a second car. It was carrying a family. And a grandmother, her daughter and her 4-year-old grandson were all killed.
International leaders have welcomed the formation of the first permanent government in Iraq since the American-led invasion 3 years ago. The British Prime Minister Tony Blair described it as a huge step forward and called on the international community to support the government to the incoming Prime Minister Nuli Anlamaki. President Bush said the new government reflected the diversity of Iraq and had opened a new chapter although great challenges lay ahead. Earlier the Iraqi parliament voted in favor of the program presented by Mr. Anlamaki . There was a walkout by some Sunni politicians complaining that the Shiite coalitions are trying to impose the conditions on Sunni participation. After the inauguration, the Foreign Minister Oshaso Barri said the walkout would not affect the establishment of the government.
The bulk of the Sunnis are in the government and they are holding some key positions. That is why, you know, the distraction that made some noise and left the hall ,really would.., it is not influential first .secondly, it would not have a major impact.
The refreshed doubts about whether the Afghani authorities have captured the Taliban's most senior military commander Muladola . A BBC correspondent in the region who is familiar with the Taliban leader says he has been contacted twice by a man he believed was Moladola . Mr. Afabus reports from Islamabad.
It is not clear if Afghani authorities are still sticking to their earlier dream of having captured Moladadola . But the man who identifies himself as Dadola has twice called a BBC special service corresponding in Pakistan to deny Kabul's claim. His insistence was he was the one largest Islamic commander who have been leading the Taliban insurgents in Kandaha and Heman. And he said he would continue to attack the Afghan and foreign forces in the area .
Police in Irish Republic say they have removed all the Afghan hunger strikers who had occupied a cathedra in Dublim . Some patches cathedra was occupied by around 40 Afghan asylum seekers a week ago. The police moved in after the church violence withdrew from the negotiation to end the hunger strike by the asylum seekers. Church officials pulled out 20 Irish justice departments tell them to let the police take charge of the situation.
