Nigerian officials were tried to determine what caused Sunday's deadly airplane crash in Abuja. 97 people are feared dead after the ADC airliner went down minutes after take-off and burst into flames. Seven survivors are in a hospital. One is in critical condition. A statement released by a presidential government spokeswoman said that the president has called for a full report and investigation into the crash. He sends his condolences to all Nigerians and especially to the family and friends of the victims.

There are reports that two people were killed in a political clash as voters headed to the polls in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Incumbent President Joseph Kabila and challenger former rebel leader Jean-Pierre Bemba are in a heated race. (The voice) The vote wraps up Congo’s first democratic election campaign in more than four decades.

Election day is a week from Tuesday and recent poll showed the Democrats seem to be in the driver seat. The party needs 15 House and 6 Senate seats to wrest control of Congress away from the Republicans. Many Americans are saying they are going to vote for Democratic candidates because of they fed up with the war in Iraq and President Bush's leadership. One GOP consultants said the war makes this election one of the most challenging since 1974 when Republicans lost 48 House seats after Richard Nixon resigned.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger toured the wildfire-damaged areas around *, California today. Calmer winds have helped firefighters contain 70% of the deadly fire. Full containment is expected some time Tuesday. Over 40,000 acres have been scorched so far and nearly three dozen homes have been destroyed. Four firefighters died in the fire which authorities believe was deliberately set.

Thousands of people in India have drummed their way into the Guinness Book of World Records.7, 951 drummers crammed into a sports stadium Saturday in the remote northeast Indian city of Shillong. The local people, school children and police officers performed the composition by a local musician. Representatives of Guinness say the performance was sentulating, and they presented the organizers with the certificate verifying the record.
