There's been fierce fighting at a Chinese owned oil facility in Ethiopia and there have been heavy casualties. The crisis is between Ethiopian soldiers guarding the facility and forces over separatist groups operating in the area the O. national liberation front. The Ethiopian government said 74 people were killed 65 Ethiopians and 9 Chinese. O.M. a London representative of the O. liberation fornt. Mr. M. said his group had warned the Chinese that the area was not under the control of the Ethiopian goverment.
We have warned the Chinese we will have won over them since 1997. We have written to their government to their embassies we have publicly / settlement saying that Ethiopia is effective conflict of the O. that south territory we believe were under occupation. And we have not actually do anything in our territory.
The arm ring of the Palestinian Hamas movement has said the 5 months truce with Israel is now over. The statement came off the group launched rockets and mortars into Israel. It says the attack was in revenge for the killing of 9 Palestinians by the Israeli military in the west bank in gaza. The troops have largely been observed since November despite some violations on both sides. The BBC's Matthew sent this reports from E.. Close area rockets have been far from the gaza strip.
Israel's response so far has been relatively limited they render the storm feel like.But I think today's attack is in many senses very different because it has been claimed by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Hamas's a member is in the Palesinnian National community government and that may well mean the Israeli goverment decides that it has to have some sort of perhaps stronger but certainly different response to today's attack.
Thousands of people have been queuing in Moscow to far pass the cofin of the former Russian president's body of Boris Yeltsin who died on Monday. Many of the mourners pay their respects carrying flowers and candles. Mr. Yeltsin who lead the country from authoritarian communism to capitalism and democracy is lying in State of the Cathedral C.S. in central Moscow. His funeral will take place on Wednesday which has been declared a national day of mourning.
The new American embassador in the UN A.H. has told reporters that his new post intends to engage others and to listen and be respectful. At least he doesn't believe that Americans have all the answers. Mr C. said he would focus especially on the situation in Iraq and in Darfur.
My priority will be to improve the situation in Iraq as well as some other regional conflicts. Second to what that is again to deliver on the UN commitment on the responsibiliity to protect particularly with regards to Sudan in the current circumstances.

The US military has charged a Canadian man being held of the Grand T.Bay detention center with murder spying and supporting terrorism. The man U. was detained in Afghanistan in 2002 at the age of 15 and sent the Grand T. Bay shortly afterwards. US military prosecutor said that they will not seek death penalty for Mr. H. but he could face life in prison if he found guilty the charges against him. From Washington James K. reports.
