Time again for StoryCorps, the project is travling the country, recording your stories. Today it's hailed from New York city, that's where Cathie Campbell spoke with her friend Tony Gargagliano, he remenbers his father Paul, who immigrated from Italy.

My father was a goat herd in //. When he came for this country, he learned how to use the sewing machine and became a tailor. And he never approved me of being an artist. He just say "Hey, look at the // painted that dirty picture, all of that nude women. It is a //." My father one day came to visit me and he was 84 that time .He says, "You know my third wife, she is gone to Italy. She is leaving me all alone, I told you I'll go along, you don't find when you come back." So I said, "Well, you know you think get an annulment, dad." And he said, "What's that?" I said "that's when one part of the marriage does not live up to the who marriage for us. If you wife disappeara Italy, then you have perfect right, that's not a marriage any more." He says "you find me an Italian priest." I found a monsignor, who is the head of the church, and I set a date, took my father. We enter the room, and monsignor greets us. The first thing out of my father's mouth was,"You know, father, it is not natural for a man to be without a woman." Just the monsignor was,just look at me and I konw he's accepted his celibacy. My father continued telling his story, and he just to speak like this. And the monsignor, he would say to me "Well, tell your father," And before I know I was tranlating English into English. The monsignor said "Tell your father that church does not move very quickly." My father said, "I am in no hurry."

Did he ever do it?

No, she wrote his a love letter and he said the Monday she'll come back.
