My name is Maurice Manuwatu, and I am from here, Kaikoura. It's an amazing place and historically mounted have been here for over 800 years. Manuwatu was a god that had this magic sword. And he carved the mountains, and he shaped the peninsular where around here. He created all the beauty. He also carved the underwater trenches and canyons that we have around here, which is like a underwater highway, and it is a feeding ground for all the whales, so and as a result of that, whale watch has started.

A very deep ocean canyon has come very, very close to shore. We have these colliding currencies. The warm currency comes down from the equator, cold currency coming up from the Antarctica. And so that's a combination of the geographic make up the richness of the nutrients in the water. And deep canyons very close to shore. That make this place a really special place in the world for marine mammals. You know, while we started 14, 15 years ago.

There is not many places in the world where you have ride on your // whales all year around. We get the privilege of the same whales every day. More is envious of the// people who get the chance to see a whale for the very first time.
