After a successful trade trip to China, French president Nicolas Sarkozy visits a Paris Hospital to confront the grim realities of rioting at home. Dozens of police officers've been injured in the wave of / violence as they came under a hail of stones, petrol bombs and gunfire. Sarkozy, a law-and-order hardliner says those behind the violence will answer for their actions.

Whoever is responsible for violence against the police will find themselves before the criminal courts on charges of attempted murder. Attacks on civil servants are completely unacceptable.

The unrest erupted after the deaths of two teenagers when their motocycle and a police car collided.Cars, buildings and rubbish bins were set alight both in Tolinette and in Paris surburbs like Villiers-le-Bel in a third night of / trouble. The scale of unrest has eased but the scenes have led to painful comparisons with the rioting two years ago.

In 2005 ,very little happend here, but now it 's here in our area where I live. I’m at the forefront of what’s happening and it's very traumatic.

The French president has met the famlies of the dead youths, they've appealed for calm. He has promised an inquiry over the way police responded / in the wake of the crash and the speed at which help arrived. That alone won’t tackle the problems at the heart of a wilder malaise in the run-down areas of french cities. High umployment,underperfoming schools, inadequate housing, new immigration laws and poor relations with police have created a generation of frustrated youths .
