Deloitte is commonly referred to as just one of the big 4 accounting firms. But when you look at how students consistently rank it in top 250 ideal employers, and when you go and meet their employees like we did, you quickly learned that big 4 tag doesn't do a justice.
When I tell my friends that I work\ in accounting firm their first response is that’s gotta be so boring. That could not be farther from the truth. I work\ with the most fun people I've met my entire life.
Kate is a 23-year-old the depo-grad who now works in the audit and ERS division at Deloitte Chicago office.
You've got a lot of hands-on experience, you got to see all facets of the audit and you also get to work very close to higher-lever people.
She began her career with Deloitte as an HR intern during the sophomore year, loved it and kept going, transferring to other departments and finally being offered a full-time job.
You know, I know, several people that have been interns and then come back and the reason is because you feel like you're needed, you feel like you're doing work, you're not just there pushing paper or there getting coffee.
And Kate's experience is not unique. Deloitte takes on about 2,000 interns a year, and has over a 90% conversion rate into the full-time positions, one of the highest of any company. One of the things we’re striving for is to ensure no one is given in in intern or we are having interns who are not given a meaningful work. It\ is a struggle at a time depending on business cycles and activities, but they're really trying to get them exposed to client engagements, they're trying to get them exposed to what it’s like to work at the firm, so there are sometimes internal projects, because that's required all of us as employees, but even getting \ the opportunity to do comm/community services during the summer. So it’s really trying to give them here's what would be like if you decide to join us upon graduation. Branny overseas audit campuses recruit in the staffs Deloitte’s 90 US offices. Don't oversell and personally again, be honest, be concise, don't give the answers you think we wanna hear, give the answers you believe in. People who do interviewing, a great deal can really, quickly determine someone is sincere and honest or if they’re telling you what wanna hear. The company hires close to 4,000 new employees each year to work in their audit, tax, consulting or risk financial advising sections and has year-round internship \ opportunities. Really what separates people is their passion, and those that display\ that we know would do very well, because they will brace responsibilities and know go after things for forth.
