Topology Optimization as a New Design Paradigm

内容简介：

Traditional design process often requires costly trial-and-errors. To overcome this difficulty, a new design paradigm based on topology optimization is introduced.   Topology optimization is very attractive to designers because they can begin the process with a clean slate with nominal functional specifications such as allowable design domain, forces, and boundary conditions, and obtain the optimal solutions directly. In this presentation, design examples obtained from topology optimization are demonstrated, and current state as well as future directions of topology optimization will be discussed.



Hae Chang Gea教授简历：

Professor Hae Chang Gea obtained his MS degree from University of Southern California in 1985 and his Ph.D. from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1993.   He is a Professor in mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. His research interests are design optimization, structural analysis and design with uncertainty. He has received ASME best technical paper award twice.   Currently, he serves as Associate Editor for many international journals as well as Committee Chair for the ASME Design Automation Committee and many other international organizations.
